The joys of wood

The wood arrived - thankfully fairly early in the morning, around 9:30 - so I spent a few hours getting it all upstairs.
The good:
  • The truck was small enough to be allowed onto the driveway - there's a weight limit as they don't want people parking in the cellar ;)
  • The wood was already on trolleys in the truck - which made getting it down and into the building easier.
  • I did manage to fit all of the bits into the lift with some creative jiggling and positioning.
The bad:
  • The lift gods were not kind - two (out of a possible three) lifts died just while I was transporting the stuff, so not being a complete bastard I let the other people use the remaining lift for a while and only grabbed it when there weren't people waiting for it.
  • The trolleys that came off the truck did not fit into the lifts, so I had to unload everything off of them in the front hall and then move it into the lift and store it in the hallway on our floor, before moving it again into the flat.
Here it is in our hallway and in the office - note the room was so full that it's impossible to take a photo of everything - hopefully the furniture fairy (tm) turns up before Polina gets back ;-)

I also put together my new workbench, which arrived with the wood and started work on the built in wardrobe for the office.

Still ended up using the dining room table for the drilling of the shelf support holes as they're too long for the workbench, but it's used to being abused for such things. Managed to drill all of the holes for the shelf supports, and the dowel holes for putting it together, got the two sides screwed to the walls in the office but couldn't get the top on as it's a bit too big - will need to trim it with my new saw on Saturday.
Sorry no photos of the cupboard going up - can't stand far enough away from it to take any ;)

That's all for now...
