Meinen Weg zur Arbeit (aka. my way to work)

As I've previously mentioned, I walk to work... except for yesterday when I rode my bike, but it was so cold that I think I'll have to wait a bit more before repeating the very chilly experience. Even though it does only take 10 mins door-to-door... beating even the subway!

So here I am listening to my music - today it was a nice mix of Bob Dylan, The Cranberries and Jimmy Morrison... and I realised something. One thing that always depressed me in Melbourne s Williams Street in the mornings with the people walking to their offices from Flagstaff Station... this grey, unhappy, uniform mass of people who don't really want to be there and all look the same.

Well here it's different. Perhaps because there is no business centre as such and all offices are more spread out, or for some other reason... but the people I see are all different - mothers going for a walk with their kids, students off to uni (or people I think are students), some office workers (but they almost look happy), friends taking a walk and having a discussion, people sitting in cafes and having their morning coffee... Granted - today wasn't raining.

And the coolest thing of all today - a oldish (60-sh) year old guy in his nice business suit and a beige raincoat going to work on a 'самокат' (whatever those things are called - it's like a skateboard but has handles and you stand with one foot on it and push off with the other). You don't see _that_ downunder :)
