Finding out about history

While Greg and Tanya were here we made our way into the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe... a place were we have been plenty of times before but this was the first time we actually went into the information centre... it was very well done inside. The place is very modern and is done in the similar style as the Jewish Museum with a lot of open concrete and little outside light. It has a lot of interesting information and in one of the rooms they read out the names of each person who was killed... and apparently by the time they've went through all the names it's going to take them a bit over six (!) years.

They also have a database of names where you can search for your ancestors... and the search also exists online. So I got some names from Grandma and did a bit of a dig-around... and found someone who I think might very well be my great great great grandpa.... who was a rabbi in Belorussia. I want to look through the memoirs of my great grandma and see if I can find out more.

Last night we were there with Olaf and Meike and I took this picture of Jack jumping accross the concrete pillars outside... which I think is kind of cool and freaky.
