Yep, this is what Ksusha in my brother's class wrote in one of her essays... even the randomness on Monty Python could not compete with something like "'Slap, Slap!' - said a confused knight to his father's rock collection." Yes, this is going to be a random post.

Yesterday was saturday and I decided that it would be great to have some pancakes for breakfast.


This is something I noticed in the work toilets. Apart from the obvious mistake in the russian translation, the sound of the term 'pad' in other languages (esp. in Polish) are funny.

And the other work related thing. We use the text 'Lorem Ipsum' as a standard blank/placeholder text to fill templates for webpages. On Friday for the first time I realised that I have no idea what the text actually means. So I looked it up and it's actually Latin from Cicero's The Purposes of Good and Evil... so the whole thing if put in a Latin-->English has quite a full-on meaning dealing with the subjects of pain and suffering, etc. It really surprised me that we're using something which is actually very philosophical and complicated as a blind text just because we cannot understand it. By the same rational we could use something like this and think it's ok... "И маньяк резал ребёнку горло с умом, тактом и расстановкой потому что ему это доставляло животное и неописуемое удовольствие." Even though it is talking about a serial killer slicing the throat of a child with animalistic passion. I guess it goes back to that feeling when people learn swear words in other languages and use them thinking that they sound cute without realising that in actual fact they are quite rude and offensive. Is it really acceptable to quote something without knowing its real meaning? Aren't words more powerful than just a bunch of syllables put together?
