Hiking observation nr. 1

The population of hikers reflects the normal spread of the general population. There are people who are very considerate on the one end of the scale and those who are basically arse#$*s, ie. the very opposite of considerate, on the opposite end. And then most of the rest fall anywhere in between those two extremes.
