Our last trip overseas was last August to Turkey, where all of us were sick with a stomach bug for 12 days in a hotel without a washing machine.
Then we were due to fly to Brussels over Easter this spring. Two days before our trip, terror attacks happened there in the airport and the city metro, so we had to cancel our trip. Perhaps in the end for the best, because Timmy ended up in hospital for two days and it was good that it happened in Berlin.
So coming up to our road trip to Croatia I had a nagging feeling that something will go wrong and we won't be going. But as the trip approached all seemed well. Even on the morning the day before all seemed fine: car was serviced, we were packed, no one was too sick. I started to get a hopeful feeling that things will be ok and even a bit of positive anticipation of the trip ahead.

That is until about 2pm, when I got an sms from Jack saying that he got notified from our concierge that police have been because our car got damaged by construction workers (there's a new set of apartments being built across the street from our home where we park our car). At this point we were both at work and didn't have any more information as to how extensive the damage might be. So needless to say that we were a little bit stressed getting home in the uncertainty of whether we'll be able to go on our holiday after all.
It turned out that only the bumper bar got damaged, as the guy was pulling out with his trailer. So Jack duct-taped the front, we stressed some more... and we decided to go despite the universe giving us signs to the contrary. We were just hoping it was looking the other way for a second!

Hopefully just the unicorn reminding you to pack duct-tape.

If that's the only message from the unicorn, I'm good with that!
