or "Education for all"... that's the theme of this week in Germany. Germany wide there are thousands of students protesting against all sorts of things - such as:
- the idea of the Bachelor (that it's restricted in terms of how long you can stick around uni to study/procrastinate)
- the fact that some universities (and a small number at that) introduced education fees
- compulsory student semester fees (in my case it is 250 EURs that include a semester ticket for whole of Berlin and outer Berlin for half a year)
You can probably already tell that I did not take part in the demonstrations and went to uni like the good girl that I am. Our university president however said that those students who missed lectures by going to the demos will not be disadvantaged. Since most of our classes are compulsory to attend, it was a pretty sweet deal. Nothing to pay for actual courses apart from 250 EURs a semester too much with a transport ticket?! How about the 25000$ that I still owe in HECS/HELP Fees to the Australian Government for my studies. Everything is relative...
